THE GAME

Tree with lights in forrest

For 3 days, a rural hotel will be fully dedicated to the game. It will be transformed into one big escape-game hotel, where you also sleep, have breakfast and dinner. And of course have the chance to meet and hang out with like-minded people from the other teams.

While much of the event takes place in and around the hotel, the game will also require you explore the surrounding towns and villages.

Teams consist of 2 or 3 people and each team gets their own room. The game is not a competition between the teams. While you’ll have your own private room and team challenges, some secrets can only be unlocked by collaborating with other teams. After all, everybody wants to lift the curse and working together gives a better chance to achieve that goal!

The game is also not a race to finish it as fast as possible. At certain moments throughout the game, new information may submerge, new clues to be found and puzzles to be solved. So everybody will finish the game, together, on the final evening.

This is a mystery-driven experience based on authentic Galician mythology. No jump-scares, just deep intrigue and clever puzzles.

THE STORY

Ghost like figure at night

Nestled among the vineyards and hills of southern Galicia, near the Portuguese border, lives a hardworking and hospitable American couple. They came from the US to pursue their dream: running a country hotel in the Minho Valley.

Things started off wonderfully, but little did they know that Galicia is a land steeped in ancient legends and folklore. When they first heard about it, they dismissed it as fairy tales. But things took a turn when Jay began sleepwalking and seeing things no one else could. Every morning, he wakes up as if he hadn't slept at all, not remembering anything from the night before. Locals say he is cursed by an ancient being; others say he has disturbed the spirits that still roam the land. Personally, we believe both could be true. And that we can find answers by uncovering the clues left by former guests of the hotel.

One thing is certain: something strange is going on, and we must figure it out before Jay completely loses touch with reality.

THE LOCATION

Stone building of a rural hotel in Arbo, Spain

The game takes place in a rural hotel ‘3 Cabras Perdidas’ in Arbo, Galicia, Spain. From the hotel there’s a stunning view over the Minho River and its valley full of vineyards and charming villages.

The property has 7 comfortable rooms: 4 double, 2 twin and 1 triple, with the possibility to convert the twin rooms into triple rooms by adding an extra bed. Each room has an en suite bathroom and all the needed amenities.

FAQ

Not everything is a mystery

  • Not at all. While the Santa Compaña is a ghost legend, the focus is on mystery, puzzle-solving, and atmosphere. Think "Sherlock Holmes meets Galician Folklore" rather than a horror movie.

  • Yes. All clues, hints, and interactions are designed in English.

  • As long as you have an open, adventurous mind and like games and puzzles, we’re sure you’ll love it! The game is not a competition or a race, so if you get stuck you can ask for help.

  • The hotel isn’t easy to reach without a car, so for that reason alone we would recommend coming by car. For the game, you’ll need a car to reach certain places in the area. If you know other participants, you could try and share a car, but we leave that up to you.

  • Arbo is located in southern Galicia, right on the border with Portugal.

    • By Plane:‍ ‍

      • Vigo (VGO): The closest airport, 45 min drive to Arbo.

      • Porto (OPO): 1h 45 min drive.

      • Santiago de Compostela (SCQ): 1h 30 min drive.

    • Option for travel via Madrid:

      • By plane: Take a quick 1-hour hopper flight from Madrid to Vigo (VGO) or Santiago de Compostela (SCQ). From there you can rent a car to reach Arbo.

      • By high-speed train: Take the train from Madrid Chamartín station. We recommend the high-speed line to Ourense (approx. 2h 15m). From Ourense, Arbo is just a 50-minute drive away.

    • By Car: We highly recommend renting a car. It will give you the freedom to explore the surrounding villages required for the game. If renting in Porto (Portugal), make sure to let the rental company know you are crossing the border into Spain!

  • The game takes place over the course of 3 days, starting on Thursday. You’ll be expected to check-in between 3PM and 5PM at the hotel. The game will officially start during the first dinner.

The event ends Saturday evening with a final, shared experience of (hopefully) lifting of the curse once and for all.

Sunday morning 11AM, after breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to your newly made friends.

  • Each teams consist of 2 or 3 members, so signing up alone is not possible.

  • You can join, but you will need too book 2 rooms and you’ll be considered 2 teams. Each room has its own specific puzzles and clues besides the shared, general ones. Of course, you can work together on puzzles and share a car when needed to explore the area.

There is one triple room available at the hotel.

  • You can, but only after the game is finished. We can’t have you looking around while we’re turning the hotel into a big escape room. Contact us if you wish to book additional days at the hotel at a discounted rate.

  • Comfortable clothes, sturdy walking shoes for local exploration, and a curious mind. Besides that, whatever else you would normally pack for a weekend trip.

  • While bookings are non-refundable, you are welcome to transfer your spot to a friend. Just reach out to us about it.

We also strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance to protect you against unforeseen personal or global events.

  • That’s a pity! Make sure to sign up to our newsletter to get notified for any new event openings.
